De-growth involves many strands and intellectual differences. Many within the environmental movement in general, and within Degrowth in particular, do not recognize the magnitude and significance of the problem of growth. Even though they have some notion of basic limits and footprint figures, they fail to grasp the enormity of the implications. A just world order is inconceivable unless that extreme distribution and the systems that determine it are totally scrapped, and unless the few in rich countries accept living on something like their fair share of the available resources. Many people concerned about the state of things proceed as if it was appropriate to go on fixing this and that faulty component of society and as if in time this would add up to having solved the problems.
