Indiscriminate and careless use of the technique leads to exploitation without limit. Martin Heidegger. A change in the social model is necessary, where interventions may arise as a result of the needs, which appeal - against the economic - to a new profitability: global, environmental, reversible, social and cultural. Real sustainability is social because it includes the needs of citizens, exposed and analyzed by those people; environmental, which involves local, logical and reasonable; urban as a physical framework of social relations of people; cultural in hybridization between urban collective work and participation, reversible therefore responsible, and economic as the sum of the above in a necessary reality. Development is not equal to growth. Being sustainable is to produce only the necessary, the essential. Therefore, any intervention regardless of the scale, building, urban or territorial, it has to be thoughtful and consensus, where all citizens using their knowledge, in the broadest sense of the word, generate the framework of decision about what is better to do or not do. It is then essential, a different intervention criteria. Improvement from subtraction, resignation and not doing. Actions that are intended to reveal the unnecessary, the redundant built on arguments of growth and false needs. To do from no construction, it is a paradigm shift which enables to focus on the real needs at any kind of scale. To remove synthesizes, seeks the essential and indispensable. This session will try to explore different methodological approaches to the city based on degrowth techniques, through three different tools, that can be used in any kind of urban context.
