postcarbonpathways.net.au: This paper reviews the key thinkers and movements in the emerging paradigm of ‘post-growth’ economics. By way of introduction, a brief overview of the growth paradigm is presented, in order to later highlight, by way of contrast, some of the most prominent features of the alternative paradigm. A substantial literature review of post-growth economics is then provided, after which some of the outstanding issues in this emerging movement are outlined. This paper intends to raise questions about what prospects this movement has for dislodging the growth paradigm from the dominant position it currently holds in popular consciousness; what significance it may have if it were ever to succeed; and what the implications could be if it were to remain marginalised. The paper concludes by outlining a research agenda of critical issues.
