Position paper by Conrad Kunze for the workshop "Small is beautiful: Renewable energy supply in rural communities" at the attac-congress "Jenseits des Wachstums?!" 2011 in Berlin.
From the program: The production of renewable energy makes it possible to create full spectrum supply on a smaller scale. This also makes it possible to break free from the existing chain of fossil energy sources and economic dependencies. The first pioneers, such as the communities of Samsø und Feldheim, have demonstrated that it is possible. In a short lecture the thesis will be put forward, that selforganized energy autarchy offers the possibility for retaking control of local decisionmaking. Following this, there will be a discussion.
