Just Transition Rising is a two-day online gathering bringing together union leaders, grassroots organisers, campaigners, and policy advocates to explore how justice can be placed at the heart of climate action.

From lived experience to structural change, this event will spotlight - through panels and breakout sessions - how justice is being fought for on the ground, and ensure those demands are heard on the road to COP30.

As authoritarianism, corporate power, and climate breakdown escalate, the call for a just transition has never been more urgent. The building blocks of a just transition will be explored - from social protection, decent work, and energy access to investment rules, trade justice, and inclusion - while recognising that struggles differ by national and sectoral contexts. Between the hard realities of daily life and global negotiations lies the national terrain of industrial policy, public institutions, and civic resistance, which all shape how a just transition is actually forged.

Join this gathering for powerful, action-oriented sessions including:

* Voices from the Frontlines: What Workers and Communities Demand for a Just Transition

* Centering Justice Now: Why It Matters More Than Ever

* From Local to Global: COP30 and Building Collective Power

* Standing Together: Supporting Workers in Sectors in Transition

* Where Land, Water, and Energy Meet: Just Transition on the Frontlines of Resource Struggles

* Who Pays? Funding the Just Transition with Justice at the Core

* From Local Plans to Global Power: Rethinking Industrial Policy for a Just World

* From the Ground Up: What Communities Are Fighting for in the Transition

* No Justice Without Us: Lessons in Social Dialogue and Community Leadership

* Naming Power: Holding States, the private sector and Institutions to Account

* Defending Civic Space: How We Resist Repression and Reclaim Voice

Through bringing together diverse voices - from striking metalworkers to Indigenous leaders, from public sector unions to land and water defenders - this event will connect movements, align strategies, and build collective power for a just transition rooted in equity, solidarity, and hope.

Strategies for Cultural Change: Degrowth and the Use of Space

Article3

By: Francesca Van Daele

Degrowth addresses the negative consequences of consumerism (psychological stress, long working hours and positional competition) and discusses the benefits of frugal lifestyles. Henri Lefebvre, a French philosopher from the 20th century, argues that if ideas or values are not physically implemented in space, they become mere fantasies. As such, if degrowth wishes to prevail, it has to leave it...

Budapest Degrowth Conference opens with clear solidarity message for refugee struggles

Budapest

By: Christiane Kliemann

In his welcome address at the opening plenary of the 5th International Degrowth Conference, Federico Demaria from Research and Degrowth made explicitly clear that immigrants, refugees and their struggles must be integral part of the degrowth community: "Refugees and the other oppressed shall always be kept in mind while imagining degrowth and the socio-ecological transformation we are walking. ...
